Barricade tape appears similar to caution tape, as both use the same yellow and black color combination, but are they the same? Caution tape, using the color yellow to symbolize caution, is put in place to indicate a potential hazard, which barricade tape, sometimes with only printed black and yellow stripes, is simply used as a barrier. While a potential hazard could be on the other side, the tape is put in place as a temporary barrier.
