Title 49 of the United States Code of Federal Regulations (49CFR) requires the use hazardous materials placards when shipping hazardous materials cargo and dangerous goods in the United States. D.O.T./Hazmat Vehicle Placards meet DOT-HM 181 requirements. For more information on hazardous materials classification, including a hazardous materials chart, visit the gpoaccess.gov website Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
All DOT/Hazmat placards measure 10.75" x 10.75" and are available in rigid plastic or pressure-sensitive vinyl.
Some vehicles need to be labeled with hazmat placards. If your vehicle falls into this category – and it will, if you transport any chemicals, gases, or anything that qualifies as a hazardous material – then a hazmat sign or placard must be displayed on your vehicles. We carry these various hazmat placards that fall under categories one through nine and meet DOT HM181 requirements. A plastic hazmat placard, for example, can be stuck to the back or your vehicle or in any location it needs to be displayed. Aside from plastic options, we have pressure-sensitive vinyl that attaches just as well.
What do you do if you need to change hazmat symbols often on your placard? One option we carry in a flip placard. With two and four-way flipping, one of these hazmat placards can attach to your vehicle and, instead of attaching or changing a plastic sign, flip the placard and then secure it to display the proper symbol on the road.
